A young man has alleged that he was abducted and brutally assaulted after leaving Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport following his return to Bangladesh from Thailand. He was later found unconscious near the Padma River in Naria upazila of Shariatpur and taken to a hospital. The victim also claims that police refused to accept his complaint when he went to Naria Police Station.

The victim, Abul Faisal (39), said he returned to Bangladesh from Thailand on March 26, 2025. After completing immigration formalities at the airport and coming outside, four unidentified men allegedly forcibly took him into a Toyota HiAce vehicle.
According to Faisal, the men blindfolded him and took him to a dilapidated garage-like location. He alleged that his hands and mouth were tied and that he was severely beaten. He particularly claimed that he was repeatedly struck on the head and eventually lost consciousness.
Victim’s Statement
Abul Faisal said, “I was returning home after a long time. I never imagined that I would be abducted from the airport and brutally assaulted in this way. I am not getting justice because the accused is an influential person.”
According to his account, a person named Bakaul later entered the room. Faisal alleged that he continued to be subjected to physical assault and that he was repeatedly struck, particularly on the head, before eventually losing consciousness.
“When I regained consciousness, I found myself at Naria Upazila Health Complex on March 27, 2025,” Faisal said. “I was later told that a passerby had found me unconscious near the Padma River, about two hours away from Dhaka, and taken me to the hospital.”

Allegation of Police Refusing to Accept Complaint
The victim claims that he went to Naria Police Station after the incident to submit a written complaint, but police allegedly refused to accept it. He further alleged that Bakaul is an influential person and that his influence was preventing the police from recording the complaint.
“Despite repeatedly requesting them, the police are not recording my complaint. I am being deprived of justice because of his influence,” Abul Faisal said.
Bakaul’s Response
When contacted regarding the allegations, Bakaul categorically denied them.
“These are baseless and fabricated allegations made against me to tarnish my reputation,” he said.
Police Statement
The Officer-in-Charge of Naria Police Station said, “We have not received any written complaint yet. If we receive a written complaint, we will certainly take legal action following a proper investigation.”
Victim Undergoing Treatment
Abul Faisal is currently receiving treatment at Naria Upazila Health Complex. He said that he has been physically and mentally traumatised following the incident and is also concerned about his personal safety.
Call for a Fair Investigation
The victim has demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the incident, identification and prosecution of those responsible, and necessary measures to ensure his safety.
His family has also appealed to the relevant authorities to ensure Faisal’s safety and conduct a proper investigation into the allegations so that appropriate legal action can be taken and justice can be ensured.
